What is the best way to take care of my new flooring? Find answers to those questions and more below.

What is Engineered Hardwood Flooring?

An engineered wood floor is constructed of layers of both hardwood and plywood, where solid hardwood is a solid piece of wood with no layers. Engineered hardwood construction has durable, high-performance qualities. It is constructed with multi-layers of wood; each layer is positioned in a different direction.

Is Engineered Hardwood Flooring Waterproof?

The simple answer is No. All traditional engineered hardwood is not waterproof. Because the core of engineered wood flooring is not resistant to water, the floor will become damaged if water is allowed to soak into it. Excessive moisture will cause the flooring to warp and discolor, ruining it permanently.

How do I clean my my Engineered Flooring?

Dry cleaning is the best way to clean engineered wood floors, rather than wet cleaning. Put furniture pads on the bottom of furniture legs to prevent scratches and dents. They are most commonly made of foam, plastic, felt or rubber so that your chair glides across your wood floor instead of scratching it. Vacuum and brush regularly and occasionally use a damp, well wrung-out cloth/mop.

How is Engineered Timber Flooring Installed?

All existing floor covering must first be removed. The sub-floor needs to be checked to ensure it is structurally sound and level.  An expansion gap for engineered wood flooring is essential. This is inclusive of all obstacles which may prevent your floor from expanding.

What is SPC Hybrid?

SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) Hybrid flooring has a limestone polymer core with a base underlay attached. It is designed to look like a traditional hardwood floor through the use of the digitally printed pattern underneath the UV and wear layer. Also referred to as Solid Ridge Planks, SPC is made of of layers, the combination of which leads to a flooring fit for a variety of residential and commercial uses

What kind of surfaces can SPC Hybrid be installed on?

SPC Hybrid Flooring can be installed over concrete, tiles, wood subfloors and most other existing hard-surface floor coverings. All subfloors must be dry, clean (swept of any debris), structurally sound and level.

How do I clean my SPC Hybrid?

Daily, the best method is a light sweep with a soft broom (or vacuum cleaner with a soft head) Weekly, a lightly dampened mop (microfibre is best) using warm or cold water and a gentle alkaline cleaner. Although SPC Hybrid is scratch resistant, it is not scratch proof. Put furniture pads on the bottom of furniture legs to prevent scratches and dents. They are most commonly made of foam, plastic, felt or rubber so that your chair glides across your wood floor instead of scratching it
