What is SPC hybrid flooring?

SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) hybrid flooring is a type of vinyl flooring that combines limestone and stabilizers to create a highly durable core. It is 100% waterproof, making it ideal for areas prone to moisture, such as kitchens and bathrooms.

 

Is SPC hybrid flooring durable?

Yes, SPC hybrid flooring is extremely durable. It is resistant to scratches, dents, and stains, making it suitable for high-traffic areas. However, using felt pads under furniture and placing mats at entrances can further protect the flooring from damage.

 

Can I install SPC hybrid flooring myself?

SPC hybrid flooring uses a click-lock system, making it relatively easy to install without professional help. However, proper preparation, such as ensuring a flat surface and leaving expansion gaps, is essential for a successful installation. Additionally all flooring warranties will note the flooring needs to be installed by a professional. 

 

Can SPC hybrid flooring be installed in bathrooms or kitchens?

Yes, SPC hybrid flooring is fully waterproof, making it a great choice for moisture-prone areas like bathrooms, kitchens, and even laundry rooms. It is not mould proof so please the amount of water getting to these areas and if water will get to the subfloor. 

 

Does SPC hybrid flooring require an underlay?

While some SPC flooring comes with a pre-attached underlay, you may still need if required by your strata use a separate underlayment to add more soundproofing or moisture protection depending on your subfloor and environmental conditions.

 

Care and Maintenance for SPC Hybrid Flooring

Regular Cleaning

• Sweep or vacuum the floor regularly to remove dirt and debris. Use a soft brush attachment to avoid scratches.

• For wet cleaning, use a damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners as these can damage the surface. Do not use steam mops as excessive heat may cause damage.

 

Spot Cleaning

• Wipe up spills immediately to prevent staining.

• For tougher spots like tar or paint, use a gentle solvent like acetone, followed by a clean, damp cloth.

 

Preventative Care

• Place mats at entrances to trap dirt and moisture.

• Use felt pads under furniture to prevent scratches and avoid dragging heavy objects across the floor.

• Limit exposure to direct sunlight, as this can cause discoloration over time. Consider using window coverings in areas with strong sunlight.

 

Avoid These Products

• Avoid vinegar, wax, soap-based cleaners, and anything labeled as “shine and clean” products, as they can leave a residue or dull the surface.

• Avoid place the flooring next to an extreme heat source.
